EDMONTON - The Alberta Golden Bears will look to avenge their 38-16 home defeat last week against the Saskatchewan Huskies when they travel to neighbouring Regina for a showdown against the #6 ranked team in the country.
Alberta (2-2) struggled to get their potent offence going against a stingy Huskie defence. Upstart QB Eli Hetlinger threw three interceptions and the defence allowed 527 yards in the 22-point loss. The game was never really in doubt for the visitors, holding a 25-10 lead at halftime that was aided by three first half field goals from fifth-year kicker David Solie.
Fifth-year Huskies QB Mason Nyhus had another terrific start, throwing for 351 yards and two touchdowns. Fourth-year Bear
Jonathan Rosery had a terrific game on the ground and through the air, picking up 228 all-purpose yards including a 50-yard catch and run from a Hetlinger dump-off. Alberta struggled with their discipline, accumulating 14 penalties that cost them 150 yards which was a major contributor in the loss.
The #6 Regina Rams (3-1) visited the struggling Thunderbirds (1-3) in Vancouver and came home with a gritty 21-13 victory. It was a defensive showdown that found neither team eclipse 400 total yards of offence. Rams QB Noah Pelletier threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns on the night; the main benefactor being fourth-year receiver Bennett Stusek who caught both touchdowns to go along with 77 yards.Â

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Alberta: QB Eli Hetlinger (#7) - The second-year QB is in the midst of an impressive year that features him being second in CW in both passing yards and touchdowns. Despite a hiccup against the Huskies last week - a game which he still threw for 338 yards - he is still the turn-key that makes this Bears offence so potent, and look for him to have another massive game on the road in Regina.
Saskatchewan: DL Anthony Bennett (#94) - The fifth-year Florida product is a man on a mission to start the 2022 campaign. He leads the Canada West in Sacks (5.0) and TFL (6.0) , and provides an elite option on the edge for a Rams defence that is second in the conference in points allowed per game (17.8). He is the anchor for a Rams defence that ranks 7th in the nation with 11 sacks.
