Bears dominate Dalhousie in national semi

Alberta to battle Montreal in national final on Sunday

MONTREAL - The Golden Bears keep their undefeated record this season intact, advancing to the national final with a 6-1 win over Dalhousie on Saturday.

Now owning a 9-0 record this season, the Bears will aim for a fourth national title in program history when they take on the hometown Montreal Carabins tomorrow morning.

MATCH RESULTS

The Bears and Carabins have combined to win five of the last seven national championships, with Montreal topping Alberta in each of their last two meetings at nationals (2018 & 2019 national semifinals).

The Alberta men earned a decisive win in the doubles portion of the semifinal, before winning five of the six singles matches against the Tigers.

Ryan Townsend, Jared Maclean, Ethan Oboniye, Jackson Baerg and Jun Makita all won their singles matches in straight sets, with the Tigers only point coming in the No. 1 singles match.

The Bears & Pandas are also trying to win both Tennis Canada National titles in the same season since October, 2021.
