Harpe's career high gives Pandas fourth-straight win

LETHBRIDGE, ALTA - Despite a valiant effort, the Pronghorns fell short, succumbing to the Pandas with a final score of 76-56. The defeat shifted their season record to 12-7, while the Pandas improved to 13-6.

Jenna Harpe led the Pandas with a career-high 30 points, making 11 of her 20 shots in the win.

From the opening tip-off, both teams demonstrated their determination to seize control of the game. The Pandas defense, initially halted the Pronghorns' scoring attempts, setting an early tone of defensive intensity. However, Courtney McKee emerged as a bright spot for the Pronghorns, notching their first points and showcasing her defensive effort with a pivotal steal converted into a fast break layup.

Despite facing adversity, including a series of turnovers that disrupted their rhythm, the Pronghorns displayed glimpses of cohesion and resilience. Moments of effective ball movement and strategic execution offered glimpses of their potential to challenge the Pandas. Notable plays, such as Kamryn DeKlerk's pinpoint assist to McKee for a corner three-pointer and a seamless find to Vika Kovalevska in the paint, showcased the Pronghorns' ability to narrow the deficit and stay within striking distance.

However, the Pandas, led by Harpe's scoring outburst, maintained their composure and control of the game. Harpe's offensive prowess, highlighted by a deep three-pointer in the fourth quarter, underscored her importance to the Pandas' success. Despite the Pronghorns' efforts to mount a comeback, Harpe's dominance proved insurmountable, ultimately sealing the victory for the Pandas.

Looking ahead, both teams will shift their focus to the upcoming 2024 Canada West Women's Basketball Championships. Hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, BC from February 21-25.
