Box Score Saturday, October 19, 20133:00 PMVancouver, UBC - Thunderbird StadiumBox Score Score1234FinalGolden Bears00000UBC Thunderbirds910212060 The Alberta Golden Bears picked up their seventh loss on the season as they dropped a 60-0 decision to the UBC Thunderbirds at David Sidoo Field in Vancouver. With the loss Alberta drops to 0-7 on the season, and they will close out their season next weekend with a home date against the Manitoba Bisons. UBC, meanwhile, improves to 4-3 and is headed to the post season. Alberta struggled to move the ball all game long, as they finished 169 yards of offence, including 112 through the air. Quarterbacks Ryan Schwartz and Curtis Dell both took turns running the offence, but neither found much success and both were intercepted. Dell finished with 75 passing yards on nine completions. The rushing game did not fare much better, gaining just 84 yards, led by 33 from Dell. The blank scoreboard represents the third time in two seasons that Alberta has failed to register any points. The Bears were also held out of the end zone and uprights on on August 31, 2012 during a 32-0 loss to Saskatchewan and again on October 26, 2012 when they lost 19-0 to Regina. The Thunderbirds, a program that is fighting for a home playoff spot one season after finishing 2-6, rolled up 569 yards of offence, including 263 rush yards. Runningback Brandon Deschamps racked up 82 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Greg Bowcott ran for 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Bowcott, who often splits time calling the signals with Carson Williams, also completed 20 of 26 passes for 262 yards and two TDs, while receiver David Scott caught 11 passes for 167 yards and two majors. Williams, meanwhile, completed three of seven passes for 49 yards and a TD. Alberta will meet the playoff bound Manitoba Bisons on October 26 at Foote Field to end the 2013 regular season. Manitoba, however, is battling UBC for second place in the conference and the right to host a home playoff game. Share this story Top stories from UAlberta
