Patches is the mascot of the women's athletic teams, the Pandas. While GUBA had been on the scene for many years pumping up crowds, it felt like something was missing all these years. During the 1990s a new bear showed up on campus named Patches, who wanted to show her support and fandom for the Pandas athletic teams. Since her debut, Patches has been seen at Pandas games showing off her animated personality and enthusiastically bringing the energy.
Golden Bears & Pandas Athletics are proud to have GUBA and Patches support on and off the field. Both can be found on the sidelines or in the stands at Golden Bears & Pandas home games. They also participate in several events on University of Alberta campus and in the Edmonton area each year.
