CALGARY –
Matthew Peterson scored a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning 30-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, as the Golden Bears upset the U SPORTS No. 7 ranked Calgary Dinos 36-30, Sunday afternoon at McMahon Stadium.

Peterson finished the game with 151 total yards, also adding a one-yard touchdown rush in the opening quarter.

The game, an instant classic which marked arguably the best match between the two provincial rivals in over a decade, snapped the Dinos four-game win streak over Alberta. The win pushes the Bears into third in Canada West with a 2-2 record, while the Dinos fall to 1-3.

Brad Launhardt finished the game with 279 passing yards and three touchdown completions.
Jonathan Rosery was stellar for Alberta, hauling in six catches for 141 yards and a score, adding 21 yards on two carries.

Chevy Thomas added the other Bears touchdown on one of his four receptions.

Dinos QB Josiah Joseph completed 26/34 passing with 248 yards through the air, but managed to lead the Dinos to just four points in the second half.

The Bears, coming off back-to-back losses, rushed out to a surprising 19-0 first quarter lead, thanks to touchdowns from Peterson and Rosery, as well as a 36-yard field goal from
Jonathan Giustini.

After Peterson's score in the opening three minutes, the Bears capitalized off a
Justice Momoka strip-sack, as Rosery's 11-yard TD reception gave the Bears a 17-0 lead.

However, the Dinos responded in the second, scoring 26 unanswered points to jump ahead by seven.

Tyson Philpot got Calgary back in the game with a five-yard TD reception from Joseph, before the Dinos QB scored rushing TD's on consecutive Calgary offensive possessions.

Alberta responded late in the second, with Thomas' four-yard TD reception tying the game at 26-26 at the half.

Both teams stepped up their physicality and defence in the third, with a 32-yard Giustini field goal the lone points in the third quarter.

After the Dinos leveled the score at 29's early in the fourth, Launhardt led the Bears on a five-play, 75-yard drive, capped off with Peterson's second TD of the game.

Alberta successfully stopped the Dinos final offensive drive in the final minute to secure the six-point win.

The Bears will head home for a game next Saturday afternoon, as they host the 1-3 Regina Rams at Foote Field. Calgary, meanwhile, will host the 2-2 UBC Thunderbirds, with both games available online on Canada West TV presented by Co-Op.
