EDMONTON - The Alberta Golden Bears earned all six points available in their season-series with the Lethbridge Pronghorns thanks to a 2-0 shutout win on Saturday afternoon at Foote Field.Â
The win is the fourth on the season for Alberta (4-1-5), which also includes a 4-2 road win over Lethbridge earlier this season. The loss for the 'Horns is their 8th, as they fall to 1-8-1.Â
Ibhrahim Jetishi and
Garry Onyejelem scored for the Bears, with both tallies coming in the second half.
Chris Ezoua stopped both Lethbridge shots on target he faced, picking up his third win of the season.Â
In a game heavily favouring the homeside, Alberta outshot Lethbridge 21-3, as Armaan Thawer made nine saves on 11 Bears shots he faced, which included a handful of highlight reel saves in the first half.Â
Alberta controlled the ball completely in the first 45, outshooting Lethbridge 13-0.
David Chung let the Bears with four shots on Saturday, with Onyejelem adding three.Â
Jetishi finally broke through the Thawer in the 58th minute, taking a throw-in from
Habib Assem, before dicing through the Lethbridge back four.Â
Onyejelem doubled the lead in the 69th, beating Thawer on a penalty kick.Â
The Bears will stay at home, and host the 2-6-2 Saskatchewan Huskies tomorrow at 2:15 pm. Lethbridge will stay in town, and visit the 2-5-3 MacEwan Griffins at noon.Â
