EDMONTON - The Alberta Golden Bears look to get their season back on track Saturday afternoon with a marquee matchup at Commonwealth Stadium against their provincial rival Calgary Dinos.
Alberta (2-3) is on a two game losing streak after a phenomenal start to the season. They visited the upstart Regina Rams (4-1) and fought to a tight 19-14 loss. Second-year Bears QB Jonathan Ericson played well in relief of an injured Eli Hetlinger, going 14/19 with 175 yards and a touchdown. Second-year receiver Dakota McKay was the primary beneficiary on the two quarterback day; tying for a game-high six receptions to go with 40 yards and a touchdown.
The offence was relatively solid out gaining the Rams 350-329, but were unable to string together long drives with kicker Jonathan Giustini punting a career-high 10 times on the night.Â
The Calgary Dinos (0-5) lost a high-octane matchup against the UBC Thunderbirds (2-3) 39-29 at McMahon Stadium their last time out. Rookie RB Matthieu Clarke had a day on the ground for Calgary, running for 204 yards on only 18 carries.Â
Dinos fifth-year DB Matthew Lucyshyn was able to pick off reigning Canada West Rookie of the Year Garrett Rooker twice; rumbling one back 58 yards for a pick-six late in the third quarter. T-Birds RB Isaiah Knight duelled Clarke all night long gaining 168 yards and adding a touchdown.

- The Dinos have not made the trip to Edmonton since 2019, a 41-31 Calgary win.
- Calgary holds the all-time advantage over Alberta with a 65-43 all time record.
- A win for Alberta would mark their first two-game sweep over the Dinos in one season since 2006.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Alberta: RB Jonathan Rosery (#22) - The fourth-year hometown product has battled some injuries this year, but has flourished at times in this talented Alberta offence. Rosery sits second on the Bears with 134 rushing yards and second with 256 passing yards through five conference games. The Dinos boast the second-worst rushing defence in Canada West, and Rosery figures to play a large role in the Bears offensive attack.
Calgary: RB Matthieu Clarke (#28) - The rookie standout ranks fourth in the league in rushing yards thanks to his explosion against the Thunderbirds. He will only continue to gain more touches and experience, and his danger on the ground will be evident Saturday afternoon.
