EDMONTON - Seven Bears recorded multiple points, as the #2 ranked team in the nation picked up a second-straight 7-1 win over the Manitoba Bisons on home ice. 

Captain Matt Fonteyne led the charge with two goals and one assist, with rookie phenom Jakin Smallwood also adding two goals in the third period. Dilan Savenkov and Cam Wiebe each scored their first goals of the season in the win, with Eric Florchuk also joining the goal parade. 

Dawson Davidson, Justin Hall, Tyler Preziuso, Adam Hall, and Ryan Hughes recorded two assists each. Ethan Kruger stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced, improving to 4-0-0 in four starts as a rookie for Alberta. His 1.50 GAA leads Canada West, with his .933 save percentage now second in the conference. 

Brett Davis added to his team lead in points with his 6th of the season as Manitoba's lone goal on Saturday. Simon Harkness was pulled after allowing 3 goals on 16 shots in his first career start, making way for Friday night starter Ross Hawryluk, who allowed four Alberta goals on 19 shots in relief. 

The win for the Bears is their fifth-straight, as they continue to lead Canada West with a 10-1-1 record. The loss drops the Bisons to 4-6-0. 

The Bears held a slim 2-1 lead through 20, thanks to goals from Savenkov and Fonteyne less than three minutes into the game. Davis cut the lead in half, beating Kruger off a beautiful feed from Devon Skoleski. 

Wiebe scored the lone Bears marker in the second, beating Harkness on a two-one-one for his first Canada West goal. 

Alberta took control in the third, as Manitoba ran out of gas, dressing just 19 skaters. Fonteyne scored 12 seconds into the third, with Smallwood adding two, before Florchuk potted his 4th of the season late. 

The Bears will have next weekend off, while the Bisons will return home and host Calgary.
