The two-time defending national champion Pandas Tennis team will have a shot for a three-peat, after they defeated the Montreal Carabins 6-1 in the national semifinal on Friday in Toronto.
Playing in conjunction with the National Bank Open, the Pandas advanced to their fourth-straight Tennis Canada University Championship final.Â

The Pandas secured the doubles point by winning at the #1 and #2 spots. The doubles pairings of
Jena Cheng and
Alexandra Jewitt, along with
Emma Rutherford and
Tereza Simonova opened the national semifinal with matching 8-4 wins.
Cheng carried her strong play into the #1 singles match, earning a 6-0, 6-2 win over Simona Agapi. Rutherford, the 2021 National Championship MVP, also cruised in the #2 singles spot, winning 6-0, 6-3.Â
Jewitt clinched the win over Montreal with a come from behind three-set win at the #4 singles spot.
Jessica Kreutz also earned a singles win with a thrilling 6-4, 6-7, 11-9 result in #6 singles.Â
With the win, the Pandas also extended their win streak to 20 consecutive matches.Â
Their last loss came in the 2018 national final, with the Pandas earning national titles in 2019 and 2021. Their combined record now stands at 119-21 in singles and doubles matches over the past three years. This season alone, the Pandas own an 8-0 team record, winning 48 of the 56 matches they've played.Â
The Pandas will take on the Toronto Varsity Blues in the national final at 12:00 pm ET on Sunday afternoon.Â
