EDMONTON - The Pandas hockey team cruised to their 6th straight win, but somehow that was the secondary headline on Friday night.Â
Tonight marked the 13th time the Pandas Hockey program has played a University opponent on Friday the 13th. At the 13:13 mark of the first period, Pandas captain Izzy Lajoie took a body-checking penalty. Lajoie's jersey number is 13.Â
The Pandas also picked up a 1-0 victory, with Taylor Anker recording the lone marker for Alberta. Halle Oswald stopped all 12 shots she faced to pick up her 5th shutout of the season, as the Pandas outshot TWU 28-13 in the win.Â
The win keeps Alberta (15-5-1) locked into the No. 2 seed in Canada West, just one point behind UBC for top spot. The loss is the ninth in regulation for the Spartans (9-9-3), who remain in the sixth and final playoff spot.Â
Anker scored the game's lone goal midway through the second on the powerplay, following a five-minute major for Spartans forward Brooklyn Anderson.Â
