SASKATOON, SK – After a 1-0 loss to the Alberta Pandas on Friday night, the Saskatchewan Huskies were looking to take the win on Saturday. The Panda's offence would be too much for the Huskies, and Alberta would head home with a 3-1 win. Both teams maintain their spots in the Canada West rankings, with Alberta holding steady at second, and the Huskies in fourth.
Colby Wilson would be in net for the full 60 minutes for the Huskies, going 22 for 25.
Halle Oswald would again be the go-to goaltender for the Pandas, stopping 16 of the 17 shots she faced.
The first period belonged to the Pandas offence, with
Abby Soyko grabbing the first goal of the game at 9:51. Minutes later, she would be joined by
Jadynn Morden's goal at 12:27. Both goals would have
Cassidy Maplethorpe with the assist. The Pandas would end the period with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Emily Holmes would be the lone scorer for the Huskies, with a power play goal at 4:48 in the second period. Alberta would rally back ten minutes later with a goal from
Kallie Clouston at 14:27 into the second. The third period would be a quiet one, as neither team was able to add more points to the board. The Pandas would take the 3-1 win and the weekend sweep of the Huskies.
