CALGARY – The Alberta Pandas scored four unanswered goals as they knocked off the University of Calgary Dinos women's hockey team 5-2 Saturday night at Father David Bauer Arena.

With the win, Alberta has gone 12 games without a regulation loss – improving to 11-0-0-1 in that span. They hold a 16-2-0-1 record, good enough for the top spot in Canada West's East Division. The Dinos fall to 6-12-1-1 in conference play and will look to reset following a bye week.

It took 12 minutes of action in the first period for the scoresheet to receive some marks when a slashing penalty taken on a breakaway resulted in a Dinos penalty shot. Brooklyn Anderson took full advantage of the time and space offered, squeezing a shot through Grace Glover's pads to light the lamp.

It wasn't long until the Pandas responded. Just under two minutes later, Holly Magnus circled up top and unloaded a shot on Amelia Awad and evened the score.

Calgary regained the lead at the 16:46 mark of the first period when Dinos team captain Rebecca Clarke cut through the crease, dishing a slick backhand pass to Makenna Schafer. The first-year rearguard awaited the puck with a wide-open net and scored her first goal in Canada West.

Alberta tied the game nine minutes into the second period. Ryann Perrett walked out from behind the Dinos' net before turning and firing a shot to beat Awad top shelf. With less than four minutes remaining in the second, the Pandas took their first lead of the game off a net-front scramble. Madison Willan was the receiver of the puck when it popped loose and had no problems tucking it behind Awad,

The Pandas added to their lead in the third period with a power play goal by Kallie Clouston and an empty net tally from Jadynn Morden. 

Alberta will travel to battle the Regina Cougars next weekend with games on Jan. 17-18.

When they return from their bye week, the Dinos will host a pivotal matchup versus the Trinity Western Spartans from Jan. 24-25.
