EDMONTON - Stopping 46 of the 48 shots she faced in two games against Mount Royal, Pandas goalie Halle Oswald's weekend performance was enough to give the Pandas a series sweep over their Southern Alberta rival. 

Along with 25 saves on 26 shots from Oswald, the Pandas benefited from goals by Cassidy Maplethorpe, Kallie Clouston, and Allison Reich in a 3-1 win on Saturday night at Clare Drake Arena. Through 17 games this season, Oswald sits third in Canada West with a .937 save percentage and fourth with a 1.40 goals against average. 

The win for Alberta also sees them jump atop MRU for second in Canada West. 

Breanne Trotter scored the lone Cougars goal early in the third, for an offence that couldn't solve the Pandas netminder coming off a 4-1 loss on Friday night in Calgary. The Pandas were outshot 26-14 on Saturday, which saw them give the visitors eight powerplay opportunities. 

The Cougars goal in the third did come by way of a powerplay, but the Pandas snuffed out seven other shorthanded opportunities, including killing a five-on-three penalty in the final two minutes.

Maplethorpe opened the scoring in the second, beating Cougars starter Kaitlyn Ross with a backhand in tight. 

Following Trotter's first of the year in the third, Clouston restored the Pandas lead six minutes later with a beautiful shot from the slot over Ross' shoulder. Reich clinched the win with an empty net shorthanded goal in the final minute. 

With six-straight wins under their belt, the Pandas will host the 9-7-4 Trinity Western Spartans next weekend.
