Trailing by only six, the wheels came off for MacEwan early in the third. Alberta went on a 26-7 run, including an 11-0 run to start the second. After scoring 15 in the first quarter, the Griffins mustered just 21 points the rest of the game.
Managing their big lead in the second half, Alberta was able to rotate minutes throughout their roster, with no player seeing more than 25 minutes of court time, and all Pandas seeing at least seven minutes on the floor.
The cross-town foes will meet again tomorrow night at 5:00 p.m., as Alberta aims for a third-straight conference win, while the Griffins search for their first of the season.
