Story Lines:

  • For the 31st time in their storied history, the Bears and Dinos will meet in the Canada West Playoffs. It is their first post-season meeting since the 2023 CW Final, won by the Dinos.
  • Remarkably, it is the first time the Bears and Dinos have met in the quarter-final, with all 30 previous series' being in the Canada West Semifinal or Final. Alberta is 22-8 all-time vs Calgary in the CW post-season.
  • The Bears led Canada West in scoring with 128 goals in 28 games, with three Bears finishing inside the top 10 in conference scoring. Rookie Sean Tschigerl tied for the CW lead with 20 goals, finishing second with 39 points.

Story Lines:
  • The Pandas closed out the regular season with 16-straight wins, securing the #3 seed for the Canada West Playoffs.
  • The Pandas finished fourth in Canada West averaging 72.3 points per game and 2nd allowing just 53.6 points against.
  • Alberta has won 11-straight against Lethbridge, and seven-straight against Victoria, including a 68-49 win over the Vikes in the 2024 CW semifinal.

  • The Golden Bears and Pandas head to Regina looking to bring home CW hardware. The Golden Bears — ranked #5 in Canada — are looking for their first conference title since 2018, while the Pandas are aiming for their 6th, and first since 2017.
  • Medal threats for the Bears include Ryder Rattee (300m), Clay Grattidge (600m), Justin Rose (60m Hurdles), Wes Eze (Weight Throw, Shot Put), and both the 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams.
  • The Pandas are led by program record-holder Rachel Grenke (Pole Vault), along with Grace Cook (1000m), and their 4x800m relay squad.
