Story Lines:

  • With spots in the U SPORTS Championship this summer on the line, the Golden Bears and Pandas host the UBC Thunderbirds in the Western Canadian Championship inside the Saville Tennis Dome.
  • The Pandas are the five-time defending national champions, and have won their last 11 matches against UBC, including a 7-0 win in November.
  • During their current national title streak, the Pandas own a 40-2 win/loss record, dating back to the start of the 2018/19 season. Over those six years, the Pandas are 210-47 combined in singles and doubles matches.
  • The Golden Bears are looking for their first trip to nationals since 2023. The UBC men have won two of the last three national titles.

  • Ending the regular season with 17-straight wins and moving up to #1 in the U SPORTS Top 10, Pandas Volleyball opens their post-season with a quarter-final series vs Winnipeg.
  • The Pandas ranked first in Canada West in blocks during the regular season, and second in attack percentage.
  • It's the second playoff meeting between the Pandas and Wesmen in the last four seasons, with the Pandas earning a 3-0 win over Winnipeg in 2022 at Saville.
  • This weekend's winner will advance to the Canada West Final Four, hosted by the highest seed.

  • The Pandas enter the post-season having won 13-straight, and 19 of their last 20 games.
  • This weekend's winner will advance to the Canada West Final, and punch their ticket to the U SPORTS Championship in Waterloo.

Story Lines:
  • All eyes this weekend will be on the four-time defending Canada West Champion Golden Bears, who head to Brock University searching for their first U SPORTS title since 2013.
  • The Golden Bears are ranked second in Canada behind the host Brock Badgers, and are two weeks removed from winning their 23rd Canada West title. Seven Bears earned individual gold at the CW Championship in Saskatoon, with Owen Dawkins also being named the Men's Coach of the Year.
  • The Pandas placed second at the Canada West Championship and are ranked fourth in Canada.
  • The Alberta women are led by Vianne Rouleau, who was named the Canada West Female Wrestler of the Year after dominating the 72kg weight class in Saskatoon. The Pandas last national title came in 2023 in Edmonton.
